We got permission to make a remake. Before releasing I'll contact Raketspel once again with list of things we used and ask for permission to use them. If they agree again, there is no problem, if they don't (I don't see why they wouldn't but it's a possibility) we'll remake the resources.

My brain hurts, but I managed to extract all sounds from there and a lot of images.

There is also full map in arena104.dcr, but I have no god damn idea how to extract it.

wow! very nice! I never managed to get a single file open...

Not sure if you've found these files, but here a few I found last time we were messing around with files.

Is this really not a dream, everything falls into place, can't believe I have been holding all this for years never able to access the beauty...
I see the emblem in images in pre-rearmed, but emblem will change anyways to reborn.
All the sounds, how didn't we check earlier...funny sound names there  Cool

"krock_m_pik" is dagger hit, right? could be spear-gun aswell
"borr" is drill
"hitsmall" must be used when something bounces of the plow...
"sag-loop" is the saw
"kavel_hit" is clearly rolling-pin, but is it on fence or any contact...
"lim_olja_release" is for both glue and oil
"regular_krock" is sound of hitting a wall
There are sounds for out of ammo, out of mini-gun, but I can't recall what is "rolloverjud" for...

Challenge sound will do as alarm clock muahaha, thanks for that!!!

@Anonymous1 RageTester downloaded them when game was still online, that wasn't that hard to do, if you know where to look Wink
I now managed to extract the resources from them, file by file, except 3D models that can't be opened in external editor.

edit. @digit in your files there was nothing new that wasn't in RageTester's files. Well, maybe except old loader Wink

I don't know whether to be sad or relieved about that Razz What does the file look like? Maybe I could mess around with it. They to hold vertices and such in some form...

How to extract resources form the game:
Download: http://robotrage.pro/extractor.dir
Put it in the same folder with game files.
Open extractor, click ctrl+M, type (replacing filename to open different files of course):
Code:
getMembers("arena104.dcr")
hit enter and resources will be imported to extractor.dir.
Ignore errors, just click cancel on them.
From there you can save it by opening it in external editor (Right mouse button-> Launch external editor)

You can set external editors by choosing: Edit->Preferences->Editors.
GIMP and Audacity work for images and sounds.

BTW. Waiting for Farum (he's busy till Tuesday) I started to remake some textures to FullHD:

@pionner, hmm, thanks for the program! I'll have to try it out once I have some freetime!

I see that there are some artificats in the HD images (some noise and some compression)... is this because of the upload or do they look like this normally? Either way, I appreciate all the work you've put into this and I'll be happy to help in any way possible.

Just an update, I compiled the game on Linux. It's one time thing for now, and we won't compile it on Linux before the game is complete.
When the game will be finished, we'll compile and release it on Windows, Linux.
It's possible, that well' compile for Mac and Android, but it would require us to put more time into development.

Okay. We had small change of plans. We'll develop both versions (Linux/Windows) at once, since it requires only few minor changes in code. Farum will develop on Windows, I will continue to work on Linux.
Other news: Farum is taking care of network code. I will work on the game mechanics while he develops client-server code.

This whole rebuild thing is sorta cool.
Thanks for reaching out to me Digit.
I actually did a tonne of work on Destructo Bots late last year, and basically have the game 99%done except for the fact that I'm not happy with how collisions happen. And that's actually one of the most important things...
Anyway, what I've actually done is developed a new game using a new lock-step physics system. Now that I'm comfortable using it, I'll transfer that knowledge into Destructo Bots. It will require a fairly major redo of a lot of physics stuff, but it will be worth it.

No problem! Glad to see you back!
I'd love to see your progress so far. Since RRReborn is pretty much aiming for a 1:1 copy of RR2, it might be cool if Destructo bots got a bit creative/different. RR2's physics were pretty laughable, so your own physics could be a breathe of fresh air.

Am I the only one who enjoyed the incredible balance of the original RR bots?
Yeah, fresh air can't be bad at times...like robot wars and ra2, they are more realistic, db goes the same way and that's good in some way.
