Also update: we did load test simulating 50 players logging in, getting into lobby etc. yesterday. Generally simulation of 50 guys mashing buttons in menu as fast as possible and we had no major problems, server did it job and didn't crash Smile

Awesome! Great job! I'm getting a break from work coming up pretty soon, so I should be able to get some art assets done then... elephant

Hi guys,

We're now thinking how to handle with robot building menu (especially with inventory).
And here is important question - what version is better:
- original inventory, like below

- modern version - more like Borderlands style - on the left list of available items robot has (ofc, you could sort them as you like); upper right - window which will show you how your bot currently looks like; lower right - slots, like in Diablo, where you could equip items from items list;

We think that 2nd option is better, more modern, but we are aware that it's huge change and it could differ from the original too much Smile

What is your opinion?

Original is 100 times better, it actually looks more modern to me. It even has a scrollbar!

And other question - @RageTester provided us with parts list in xls (as seen here https://bestearn.000webhostapp.com/RRparts.xls ). What actually part's weight did? Did it modify only your speed?

I would go with the original design. You are creating an 1:1 version of the classic robocraft afterall, yes?

I apologize if you have discussed this already, but how are you planning on implementing the new camera system? If I recall, you do need two hands on the keyboard, one for weapons and one for movement.

We plan 2 modes: "original", where camera is glued to the bot like in original and everything is as close as possible to one and only true RR and "modern" where we'll probably allow mouselook, weapon controls with mouse buttons, new maps and new game modes (2vs2, maybe some CTF later on).
Menus will be a bit redesigned, due to original having very low resolution and being not too intuitive for today's standards.
We want to please old players, but also encourage people who never played the game.

We are seriously considering adding "full retro" option, that will use only original textures/menus/etc and will run in 800x600 window like the original.

We want to keep balance, to make it fun to play for oldschool players, and possibly to attract new ones (so you would have someone to farm money on:P).

Writing all the values by hand into server... This will be one long and boring evening...

edit. If you read the code you can see premium coins. As we said earlier, there will be no premium to buy for real money, and these will be earned in game on slightly different rules.
